Beloved it’s a great pleasure to be here by the Mercies of GOD. All Glory be to GOD. Thank GOD for the seventh month of the year 2021. The Almighty GOD has been faithful, seeing us through the past months. With all humility and gratitude to the Almighty GOD, we welcome you to this post. It is not by accident that you are on this page. GOD bless and keep us all.
Our last post was the ‘GOD of Jeshurun’. Today, we have before us the topic ‘And GOD Remembered’.
Looking through Scriptures anytime GOD remembers someone there is always a Divine turnaround that brings about a life change. Genesis 30:22 says, ‘Then GOD remembered Rachel, and GOD hearkened to her and opened her womb.’ Before this time Rachel was depressed and frustrated as she had witnessed her sister Leah who was her mate (both were married to the same husband Jacob) give birth to five sons, whist she remained barren. In anguish she told her husband Jacob ‘Give me children or else I die.’ Genesis 30:1. However, her turning point came when GOD remembered her and gave her a son- Joseph. You can imagine her relief; the burden was removed.
Same with Sarah who was ninety years old when the LORD remembered her in her old age, in a time that was practically unthinkable that a woman would give birth, and she gave birth to a son. Is there anything that is too hard for GOD to do?
Genesis 21:1 -2 ‘And the LORD visited Sarah as HE had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as HE had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the set time of which GOD had spoken to him.’
The joy of the family was unspeakable. Sarah glowing and radiant breast feeding her son, changing diapers, and caring for him. Oh, what a life changing experience. All the years of barrenness gone. Alleluia.
Let’s take a quick visit to Elkanah and Hannah’s home as well. 1st Samuel 1:19 says, ‘And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.’
Same here Hannah now a mother. Wow, all Glory be to GOD Almighty after all the taunting, teasing and mocking by her mate Peninnah, and GOD gave her a son. All Glory be to GOD. What a glorious transformation. Peninnah’s taunts and mockery was permanently silenced. GOD is great and greatly to be praised.
Let’s see the account of some men too. GOD remembered Mordecai in Esther 6:1-14. Mordecai was promoted from being a gate man to a Prime Minister. With GOD all things are possible. From unknown to known, from zero level to hero level to celebrity status. GOD is Awesome.
Let’s also look at Joseph. GOD remembered Joseph after facing so many humiliating and near death challenges. From being thrown into the waterless pit to being sold into slavery, he was finally bought by Potiphar in Egypt. Life was seemingly good until when Potiphar’s wife wanted to seduce him. He refused because he could not sin against GOD. Potiphar’s wife lied against him and accused him of intended rape which landed him in prison.
However, after a while, GOD remembered him and his identity changed within twenty-four hours from prisoner to Prime Minister – the number two citizen in Egypt a foreign land. (Genesis 37; 39; 40; 41). Joseph, who was formerly a slave in Potiphar’s house, became his boss. Potiphar’s wife must have been totally flabbergasted.
When the GOD of Wonders remembers a person, all protocols are suspended. It cannot be overstated it’s a life changing transformation beyond human comprehension.
When GOD remembers a person, the unimaginable, uncommon miracles happen.
Does it therefore mean that GOD can forget a person? Let’s take a look at Isaiah 49:14 which says ‘But Zion said “The LORD has forsaken me, And my LORD has forgotten me.”
But GOD responds with this in Isaiah 49:15 -16:
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.”
GOD does not forget us as we are engraved on HIS Palms and no one can do without looking at the palms of their hands. In Luke 12:7 our LORD JESUS Christ tells us that even our very hairs are numbered.
GOD makes everything beautiful in its time. So, there is perfect timing with GOD. Ecclesiastes 3:11.
Job 14:7 states “For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again And that it’s tender shoots will not cease.”
Beloved, with GOD nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37. No matter how hopeless the situation may be when GOD remembers a person and divinely intervenes, HE does exceedingly abundantly above our wildest imagination.
Going back to Mordecai, how would he have thought that he, a slave in a foreign land of captivity, a gateman at the king’s Palace, would become a Prime Minister in that same land of captivity – Persia.
Joseph had a dream about his greatness but found himself in captivity. It seemed like an utterly hopeless situation. He was cast into prison by an influential man in the polity. He had no voice to speak for him, no human help anywhere. But he looked up to the ONE who is the HELPER of the helpless. Then GOD remembered him. What Joseph got is still a wonder through generations even generations yet unborn. What GOD did was what GOD ALONE can do.
How would he have known that when he took off the prisoner’s uniform, he would be clothed in royal garments and celebrated? How would he have fathomed being accorded such honour to become the number two citizen in the land of Egypt where he was a slave?
Only GOD can make such happen for his children. HIS Ways are past finding out. Romans 11:33.
Beloved, our confidence in GOD must be strong. Our commitment to GOD must be totally unshakable. We must keep looking up to JESUS the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
Certainly, whatever we are going through, we are coming out stronger, much better beyond our wildest imagination if we remain with GOD. GOD does much more than we can ever think of. HE is GOD our Potter we are the works of HIS Hands.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which GOD had prepared for those who love HIM.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
GOD will certainly remember each and every one of us and do what HE ALONE can do for us. Let us remain immovable in our LORD JESUS Christ and rejoice always.
To GOD ALONE be all the Glory.
