Hero's journey- Joseph

Beloved, I want to start by expressing gratitude to GOD Almighty for the gift of life we’ve been given. We give all the glory to GOD, who has kept us in HIS infinite mercies. I assure you that it’s not an accident that you’re on this platform. May GOD meet you at the very point of your need in JESUS’ name. You’re welcome.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending a solemn assembly meeting by our Daddy in the LORD, Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, where we fellowshipped and communed with GOD. The theme was “To Know GOD,” and the talks were intentional in highlighting our relationship with HIM. One question that arose was how much of GOD do we know? This brings us to our topic, “Looking unto JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.”

As I reflected on the life of Joseph in the Bible, I was struck by his journey from being a favored son to becoming a slave in Egypt. His father, Jacob, had 12 sons. He loved Joseph so much that he made him a special coat of many colors. However, this made his brothers jealous, and they began to feel resentment towards him. Joseph, the second-to-last born, told his seniors that he dreamed they were all bowing down to him – what a nerve! This made his brothers hate him even more.

Fast-forward to the day when Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery. He was taken to Egypt and sold to a government official named Potiphar. Despite being in a foreign land, Joseph’s life was good because Potiphar favored him and made him head of the servants. However, Potiphar’s wife lusted after Joseph and attempted to seduce him. Joseph resisted her advances, saying how could he do such an evil thing and sin against GOD. Joseph loved GOD.

Potiphar’s wife continued to harass Joseph, and one day she grabbed his clothing to make it look like he was trying to rape her. When her husband returned home, she reported to him that Joseph wanted to rape her, and showed him the clothing as evidence against Joseph. Joseph was subsequently imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.

As a human being, the thought of being in such a situation would be all hope was lost, dreams, aspirations shattered, and the future a mirage. But not for Joseph. Not for GOD, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, who makes all things beautiful in HIS own timing, owns the times and seasons.

Amazingly, in the same prison where Joseph was, two servants of King Pharaoh (the baker and the butler) were also imprisoned. One day, they dreamed, and they were worried because they could not interpret their dreams. Joseph helped them interpret their dreams correctly, and the baker was to be executed while the butler was to be pardoned. The two prisoners were released, and it came to pass as Joseph interpreted. Joseph had asked the butler to mention his case to Pharaoh, for intervention, since he was innocent. The butler completely forgot Joseph for two whole years, but GOD never forgets.

One day, Pharaoh dreamed, and no one could interpret his dreams. Then, the butler remembered Joseph, and Joseph was released from prison to the palace to interpret Pharaoh’s dream, which he did perfectly well. The tide immediately turned over for Joseph, and it was only GOD.

From being a prisoner, Joseph became the Prime Minister in a land where he was sold into slavery. What a transformation. What a glorious new beginning. Joseph began his journey to fulfilling his purpose as a deliverer, and his brothers bowed to him more than once (Genesis 37-50).

GOD is awesomely faithful, bringing a person from zero level to become a hero. Beloved, it’s your time for greater heights and a glorious new beginning. It doesn’t matter how ugly the situation is; you are next to be lifted. You shall fulfill your purpose and destiny. That challenge is your stepping stone to your greatness. How could Joseph have entered his glorious destiny despite all opposition? Joseph’s ally was GOD, because he said, “How could he do such a terrible thing and sin against GOD?”

Kindly permit me to introduce you to our LORD and SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST, who died for our sins, so that we can be the righteousness of GOD through HIM. If you do not have a relationship with HIM as your Ally, HE is our LORD and SAVIOUR, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. HE is the ONE that makes a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, and even roses to blossom in the desert. Being connected to HIM is a sure way to fulfill your purpose and destiny.

Beloved, you can have a relationship with HIM by surrendering your life to HIM, repenting of your sins, and giving your life to HIM. HE will transform your life. Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised HIM from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

If you haven’t done so, I invite you to pray this prayer which I prayed some years ago: “LORD JESUS, have mercy on me. I have sinned against YOU and repent of all my sins. Please cleanse me of all my sins and all unrighteousness. I surrender my life and all to YOU. Please come into my heart, come into my life as my LORD and SAVIOUR in JESUS Name, Amen.”

Beloved, if you surrender your life to HIM, please go to a Bible-believing church where the Word of GOD is preached and taught. Also, get a Bible and read it. You will find CHRIST, the Word of GOD revealed to you – HIS character, and HIS teachings.

Thank you for reading this far. May the Almighty GOD bless you richly. Please share this with others.

May GOD bless and keep us all.
